What's in a word, when does a noun become a pejorative? Why the need to label places unseen, and facts unproven........ The rancor and ruthlessness of the ignorant as they set about to destroy that about which they know nothing?......The Oxford dictionary tried to come up with a definition of a " puppy mill" but it to is mired in ambiguity. What is humane, is it getting your pets teeth cleaned ? What about inhumane, is it inhumane when shelters, No Kill usually, let an animal linger for months with serious injuries while trying to pimp it as a " pity case" to raise funds.
I am offering only the Oxford Dictionary Advanced Definitions because I really don't owe anybody more than one legitimate source, and all the rest said pretty much the same thing.... so lets go with the Oxford US English version. BTW these two great pals, both since deceased from old age, came from commercial breeders, the Aussie was a pet home and as you can see, the German Shepherd did not live up to the expectations of her show kennel. Now, I had owned and finished Oreo's Mother and her Aunt, her Sire took his Championship at 2 years, so where did she come from ??? The Aussie was rejected, for breeding purposes, by the BYB because he went over size standards so he was neutered and placed in a pet home. I see BYB a lot so wanted to toss that in here for good measure....The "2 litter" BYB of the lovely Blue Merle, produced a total of 9 puppies, all of which lived in a permanent home until they died of old age. Oreo of the " draped ears" went on to become a blogger, to learn more about Oreo please read "Oreo says fare thee well" in the list on the right side bar.

kennel
noun
Name kennel
1.
(also kennels) [countable + singular or plural verb] a place where people can leave their
dogs to be taken care of when they go on holiday/vacation; a place
where dogs are bred
A anybody care to jump in with their thoughts on intensive ? How do you determine if the kennel owner is " uncaring". That is the problem with all of the subjective language, it has no merit, it bears no discipline to the English language. Lets read this carefully, there will be a test shortly, why is a kennel which breeds dogs a " kennel" but a "puppy mill" is an establishment? What about a " breeder" now there is a tricky term......do they breed in a kennel or an establishment, are they caring or uncaring? Somehow a Pet store , which may or may not be an " establishment, becomes a "puppy mill" in the underdeveloped minds of the animal rightist. Does the Pet store " breed" puppies or does it sell them? Is a person on a 30 acre farm who is breeding dogs also a " puppy store?
who the hell is it you want to shoot here loons ? Why did the Nevada Humane Society collect $800,000 from PetSmart Charities and Maddies Fund so it would look like they " gave" these dogs free to people..... nah, I said this years ago ...... The money changers are having to prop up the failing No Kill, and so lets just let the Pet Stores have their Market share because they pay taxes and don't take charity........Oreo sez.
