Oreo's Power Point

After hearing that a traveling consultant did much of his work with PowerPoint, Oreo decided to jump into the 21 st Century. As always I trust her judgement, so from here on she will direct and I will type. ( So what's new ? )
Unable to get stats from our local humane society that are not blended with our animal control ( see skewed ) We decided to use last years (2007) reports from Rancho Cucamonga, a So Cal facility that has since the report had to drop the No Kill label. This is a Rabies Control Report so Dogs and Cats are both listed. The report runs from January to December of 2007. It was a complicated read so we will list things in a more reader friendly fashion, with annotations as required for clarity.

Working with the incoming animals first ( brown font) ; note: for purposes of time I will use only the dog column. There were 1,632 dogs surrenered versus 673 captured by Animal control. This is highly indicative of citizens feeling complacent about abandoning animals at a No Kill facility. This information's located on lines 2,3 &4. When the shelter announced it was again Euthanizing, the intake numbers dropped. This has been a tradional reaction across the country as the shelter begins to deal with the overcrowding in the only way it can. We cannot adopt our way out of this.
Of the 673 ( brown line 2 ) dogs captured, 448 ( Green line 1 ) were returned to owner, leaving 125 added to the system. Total number of dogs for adoptiion combined is 1,757, the number actually adopted was ( Green line 2) 1005. leaving 752. Of the remaining dogs per lines 3&4 ( green) 287 died, 12 escaped,and 79 were transferred. That leaves 374 accumulation. the numbers are rising faster than they can be absorbed under the No Kill plan.
