Lots of dogs playing, it was a fun day, and most people had control over the guys they brought. We played with a pair of Great Danes , and met a Beagle visiting from California for the week end. I think I had met the Danes at the Dog Daze at Idlewild.
It would be nice if we could copy parks back east, and have a register list and a gate. People are much more responsible if they have to sign in. One couple there had four dogs, all pleasant, all pooped and not one time did they pick up; not nice. After the Rancho San Raphael party, we drove to Idlewild and followed the path to a picnic spot, the dogs played in the Truckee as we had lunch.
Responsible owners have happy pets. Biggest frustration (still) people bringing small children into the dog park It is an accident waiting to happen, and it won't be the dog's fault. The only solution I have is to very politely leave, there is no point in making a scene, but it is annoying when you have just settled in for the play date. the little park at University Terrace and Washington is great for finishing the interupted romp, and it has a picnic table, so keep driving til you find the perfect spot.

So that was you guys at Idlewild; small dog world isn't it ? We were walking up higher on the path and saw the 3 HUGE black dogs in the river and almost came down. I went to Rancho but there were quite a few pitbulls so we left, pit's are okay dogs but not when they come at you 7 at a time, and no owner in sight. Your dogs sure looked like they were having fun, but we didn't see you from our angle.
I think the idea of logging in at a park might work. It wouldn't have to be stringent, but it would deter reckless behavior, like
" I wonder if my dog is aggressive ?" They would be more cautious if there could be a fine. Dirty looks don't cure stupidity, but getting hit in the wallet might.
Rancho is going to be muddy for a part of the season, living it's second life as a pasture. We should send the county a big thank you card for all the times we have it available. Remember Idlewild is not a dog park and the little leashed guys have a right to the park to.... be considerate about off leash playing.. Otherwise we all get a bum rap.
