The Nevada Humane Society, The Cancer Spreads To Carson City

When first the rumors started to fly about NHS taking over Carson City Animal Services, I was thrilled.  After all,  like any other parasite, you want to get that sucker off your own leg. Shortly after my elation ebbed I began to feel pity for Carson City. I watched the videos of their Board of Supervisor's meeting and saw the same old lies rolling off the tongues of the same old crowd. Insert, blah, blah, blah right about here. Kevin Ryan lies faster and louder than Bonney Brown, but the lies remain the same.  Mendy Elliot was there along with Trooper Chuck Allen. to stand up and sing the praises of a fallen angel that used to be NHS.  Trooper Chuck says on television he is the Vice-president of the BOD, yet when asked about consistently going over budget and running at a loss, Allen says " he's just a grunt" . really? So, they took their" down at the heels" dog and pony show to our capital city, & already it's chaos.  They have no ACO's, they have no enforcement authority, they have no experience in Animal Control, but let me tell you, they do have experience in lying through their over-whitened teeth.
Mitch was hired as the " Interim Director" by Carson City ( remember him, from getting the boot at Washoe County ) The next day he was fired after making racial slurs toward Mexicans.  Not a problem for NHS however; as soon as they took complete control from Carson City government, they stuck him right back in there. You know they may have to hire an Hispanic to cover that little blooper up.
Running true to form NHS fired all the existing staff and opened up shop with the "3 day" employees they got from their " job fair" It was mayhem. But it's always chaos in No Kill land, it's like running a 100 MPH with your feet nailed to the ground. They took the " highly desirable" dogs to Reno, and left Carson City with pitbulls, and I am betting they will share some of their 500 cats with Carson though. generous folks those NHS types.. No business license, but the City Manager pushed that right on through when it was brought to his attention. You don't need a business license to save lives, right?
NHS still promotes it as they have "partnered" with Carson, I'd like to clarify that with a comment taken from the NHS  Facebook page ( taken down now though ) by an active Carson City resident.

Lisa Helget :Hey NHS: Read the contract you have with Carson City.....YOU ARE NOT IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH CARSON CITY! You agreed to provide services to Carson City in a contract as a specifically selected (legally questionable at that) independent contractor. You will be responsible for performing duties your own website says you do not do and you do not meet NRS codes to do them either. Quit misrepresenting the situation. Your ability to act as a quality animal care facility and shelter are not in doubt. Your ability to meet the specifics called out for in various NRS codes, provide the specific services and the trained personnel are. Again, read the contract you so desperately wanted.......You are NOT in a partnership with Carson City (the contract specifically says this). You're getting $700,000 of Carson City tax payer money every year to perform as an Animal Control contractor and will be watched by the citizens to ensure that you earn our money while acting in that role. Please correct your misinformation.
