All Pets FREE at NHS June 1 and 2 (2825 Longley Lane/Rock, Reno)
NHS will be at Legends June 1 and 2 from 10:30am-5:30pm.
NHS will be at Cops and Burgers at Victorian Square June 1 and 2 from 10:30am-5:30pm.
One of my rescue buddies sent this to me, she has no " Maddies Fund" to pay her for her charges that she has pulled, so this is a real back stabber. Two other agencies are involved, but NHS is the one who brought this monkey to the parade.. An article in the paper last week promoted Diane and Bonney's new venture, while stating that Diane would be consulting for NHS. They have lead them nearly into bankruptcy and I'm unsure of how much more " help" our community can stand.
Having failed miserable at running a shelter they, like Winograd, will now try to teach what they do not understand themselves. Compassion, fiscal responsibility and common decency with a moral compass. Please Jesus, if you are listening to an old man this morning, call these pain mongers to you.
For the love of Christ

Chap, here is the info from the RGJ, and a few of my thoughts.
478 dogs, cats, rabbits adopted over free weekend at 3 Reno-area shelters – over $400,000 donated
According to an NHS press release, here are the numbers:
NHS: 319 (123 dogs, 191 cats, 5 bunnies)
SPCA: 121 (60 dogs, 61 cats)
PNHS: 38 (27 dogs, 11 cats)
Because of this, Maddie's Fund will donate more than $400,000 to the rescue groups.
According to a former volunteer who is doing a pretty good job of getting the truth out on Craigslist the " rescue groups" got $500.00 for every animal they gave away. How can it be a " rescue group sitting in a fancy building built for millions of dollars? Those are shelters and why they are going for the " rescue tagline" is a mystery.
I would like to see the return rate for these animals. One of us should watch CL and see when they start showing up there. This is an out of state corporation screwing up our rescue network, and it doesn't help the animals.
